Mary Ann is AVP and Managing Counsel with Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada. She joined Sun Life in 2016. Prior to joining Sun Life, she worked in private practice as a litigation lawyer doing exclusively insurance defence work for 20 years. She manages Counsel and Senior Counsel lawyers in the litigation department as well as defending matters involving disability insurance, life insurance, long term care, critical illness, travel insurance and investment matters.

She has a B.A. (History/Political Science) from the University of Waterloo, a M.A. (History) from the University of Western Ontario, and a LL.B. from Dalhousie University. Mary Ann was called to the bar in Ontario in 1996.
