Jonathan is a Partner at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP in Vancouver and Co‑Leader of the firm’s National Litigation Management Team. As a civil litigator, he specializes in insurance litigation and product liability
Within the Canadian health insurance industry, Jonathan acts for all of the major Canadian health insurers. His practice includes representing insurers and corporations in a wide range of claims, including life and disability, accidental death, critical illness, long‑term care, creditor, personal injury, motor vehicle, occupiers’ liability, and other general tort claims. He regularly advises insurers on claims strategy, litigation risk, and dispute resolution, including mediations and trials.
Jonathan has represented clients at all levels of court in British Columbia, including as lead trial counsel before the BC Supreme Court and lead appellate counsel before the BC Court of Appeal. He is a frequent speaker and writer at industry conferences and conventions, and regularly provides in‑house training for insurance clients on health insurance claims, litigation trends, and best practices.
Jonathan also served for six years on the board of directors of the Canadian Bar Insurance Association, where he chaired the Audit and Risk Management Committee.
Outside of his professional commitments, Jonathan coaches his two sons in ice hockey, ball hockey, and box lacrosse. He is also an avid recreational ice hockey player and a lifelong badminton enthusiast.
