Grant LoPatriello is a lawyer, veteran and, formerly, a diplomat. He leads Manulife’s global competition law and intercompany transactions practices and supports parent and subsidiary governance initiatives, globally. He previously supported Manulife Canada’s group benefits business—notably with its long-term, strategic priorities.
Prior to joining Manulife, Grant practiced competition and foreign investment law at the Toronto offices of a leading Canadian law firm, and with Canada’s competition authority.
Grant’s also had the privilege of serving Canadians at home and abroad. As a diplomat, he helped shape the international security landscape in the aftermath of 9/11. Through international organizations in The Hague, Geneva, and New York, he contributed to the development and execution of Canada's counter-terrorism and non-proliferation policy agendas. As an officer in the Canadian Forces, he helped advance the state of military mental healthcare through a sweeping transformation initiative directed by the Surgeon General.
Grant was called to the Ontario Bar and hold a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School.
