Valerie is VP, Associate General Counsel, Litigation, Disputes and Advisory at Sun Life, where she oversees the litigation portfolio across Sun Life Canada’s health, wealth and protection businesses. She leads the strategy on complex litigation, disputes, regulatory investigations and provides proactive advice to help mitigate risk, including emerging regulatory and broader enterprise risk.

Prior to joining Sun Life, Valerie led the litigation team globally for BMO’s wealth management business. She also worked in private practice for a number of years, specializing in international arbitration and class actions. Earlier in her career, Valerie was a Fox Scholar and also clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada. Valerie is a member of the United Way’s Law Cabinet.
