Sophie Clement, is an accomplished and versatile life and health insurance and reinsurance professional with 25 years of experience in medical and financial underwriting, as well as product and business development.
Sophie is recognized in the industry as an expert in living benefits, particularly critical illness. She has been involved in underwriting, the development of underwriting guidelines, and product development.
Sophie graduated from McGill University with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She is also a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriters (FALU), a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI), and also holds a Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) designation from Advocis. In 2022, she was the Editor-in-chief of the magazine On The Risk, which is the Journal of the Academy of Life Underwriting. Since 2018, Sophie has been an active member of the working group responsible for the maintenance and development of the CLHIA Critical Illness Benchmark Definitions.
Over the years, she has been invited to present at numerous industry conferences, including the Canadian Living Benefits Conference, the CLHIA Claims and Anti-Fraud Annual Conference, the Southwestern Ontario Underwriters Club, and at Underwriting Association of Toronto events.
