Dr Caroline Leverett is a registered Podiatrist with 26 years professional and clinical experience, specialising in diabetes and chronic disease pathologies affecting the lower limb. Her areas of expertise include management of the diabetic and high risk foot, chronic disease management, teaching and pedagogy and strategic planning. Dr Leverett manages her own business to develop Podiatry provision within a rural setting. She has developed, managed and leads a multi-disciplinary foot care team to improve diabetes treatment outcomes to prevent or reduce complications. She provides exemplary care and takes a lead role in advanced assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients who have a lower-limb risk pathology; leads operational and strategic development of the profession, embraces evidence based medicine and developments in practice. She has demonstrable continued professional development in endocrinology, vascular and dermatology. Dr Leverett is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow, certified member of American Board of Podiatric Medicine International and member of the American Limb Preservation Society. She is an Executive Board Member of the Canadian Podiatric Medical Association acting as the voice for podiatrists in Canada, serving as a resource for legislative and policy changes affecting podiatry both provincially and federally. She is also President Elect of Nova Scotia Podiatry Association, leading and directing the Executive team in implementing regulatory Standards of Proficiency, Scope of Practice, Ethics and Conduct, developing and leading improvements in provision of Podiatry across Canada.
