Ms. Véronique Martel is Director, Supervision – Commercial Practices at Autorité des marchés financiers (the AMF) in Quebec, Canada and is responsible for overseeing the commercial practices among deposit institutions, insurers, trust and savings companies and credit bureaus and their compliance with AMF expectations in terms of fair treatment of customers. At the helm of a multidisciplinary team, Véronique ensures that the society implement sound commercial practices, including a robust culture and governance of fair treatment of customers. She also represents the AMF on national committees. Prior to this, Véronique spent over 20 years in a variety of roles, including in internal audit, in compliance as Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Director, and in the legal field as a notary. Véronique holds a bachelor's degree in law and a diploma in notarial law from Université de Sherbrooke, as well as a financial planning certificate and a master's degree in corporate law from Université Laval.
