Matthew is a Counsel in the Financial Services Group at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. He advises clients on all aspects of regulatory compliance, including banking, payments, fintech, consumer protection, cost of borrowing, anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing, sanctions, and digital assets. He regularly represents clients in their dealings with federal regulators, including the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) and the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC), and provincial regulators. Prior to joining BLG, Matthew spent nearly eight years at Canada's central bank and the Department of Finance Canada, where he held increasingly senior roles working on a variety of policy, legislative, and regulatory matters in the financial services space.
