Swati Agrawal Nevatia is the Director, Market Conduct
Supervision for Life and Health (L&H) Insurers. Swati leads the
development and design of major inter-jurisdictional compliance and thematic
reviews in partnership with other regulators as part of FSRA’s strategy to
oversee insurers and the distribution of insurance through major channels such
as managing general agents (MGAs). This includes providing advice in designing
strategic supervisory initiatives, as well as leading national harmonized
initiatives with members of Canadian Council of Insurance Regulators (CCIR) in
relation to cooperative oversight of priority matters.
Swati is not only responsible for the supervision of
end-to-end delivery of market conduct activities for life insurers but also
their distribution partners in the advent of strengthening the intermediation
chain. One of Swati’s many achievements in this role has been fostering Canada-wide
partnerships with various regulators, members of the CCIR and industry
associations to collaborate on market conduct reviews. Swati is also an
active member of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS)
Market Conduct Working Group (MCWG).
Prior to FSRA, Swati
was a Manager with KPMG’s Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance Services,
responsible for leading advisory engagements and client relationship management
for the financial services sector across North America. She holds an MBA (Finance)
from the University of Wales in UK, is a CPA from the State Board of Colorado.
She has also completed the certification program on Global Leadership in
Financial Supervision from Toronto Centre and more recently, Strategic
Management of Regulatory and Enforcement Agencies from Harvard Kennedy School.
