Amina Deiab is the CEO of the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC), joining the organization in April 2024. Amina is a transformational leader with over twenty years of business leadership experience in both the public and private sectors, and over a decade of regulatory experience in the energy, real estate, and construction sectors. Before joining the AIC, Amina was the President & CEO of the Safety Codes Council (SCC) the Alberta regulator overseeing construction codes and municipal accreditation for permitting and inspections; in that role, Amina led a significant organizational transformation including integrating the regulatory mandate of the Petroleum Tank Management Association of Alberta into SCC operations. Prior to her role at the Safety Codes Council, Amina worked at the intersection of large-scale economic development, energy policy and strategy in a number of leadership roles in the Government of Alberta including in the Department of Energy and Executive Council. Amina spent the first 15 years of her career in the private sector focused on business development across Canada and the U.S. She has also founded her own companies involved in the residential construction sector. She holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute for Corporate Directors and has a Master’s Degree in Public Policy, specializing in innovation, science, and energy policy from Carleton University.
