Bernard Brun has overseen government affairs at the Desjardins Group since 2009. As such, he ensures a cohesive dialogue between the various entities of the Desjardins Group and parliamentarians, federal and provincial governments, Crown corporations and various associations and private sector stakeholders.
Before his current role, he practiced law for sixteen years with Desjardins Financial Security where he focused on computer & information technology law, intellectual property, financial institutions law and corporate commercial law. He received a degree in Civil Law from Laval University (Quebec) and a Common Law degree from the University of Western (London, Ontario). He completed a master's degree in information technology law at the University of Montreal. Called to the Quebec Bar in 1993, Mr. Brun is also Fellow of the Life Management Institute (LOMA), completed the Partners, Directors and Senior Officers Course (PDO) from the Canadian Securities Institute and is a trademark agent.
Mr. Brun was a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce from 2017 to 2023 and chaired the Ottawa Liaison Committee between 2019 and 2025. He has served on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (FCCQ) since 2024. Also involved in the co-operative sector, Mr. Brun has been instrumental in the creation of Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC), the national co-operative association for which he provided pro bono legal services. He frequently speaks on legal and government relations issues.
