Catherine Laspina is Vice President, Canada Compliance, at The Canada Life Assurance Company. She is responsible for enterprise compliance oversight across the organization, including regulatory change, conduct risk, complaints management, and compliance advisory and monitoring functions.
Catherine joined Canada Life in 2014 as corporate counsel, where she advised a broad range of business lines and corporate functions, including individual life and living benefits, group insurance, reinsurance, and enterprise initiatives. This role provided her with a deep understanding of the insurance business and the practical application of legal and regulatory requirements in complex operating environments.
In 2022, Catherine transitioned from Legal into Risk and Compliance, bringing a strong legal foundation and business perspective to the function. Prior to her current role, she served as Assistant Vice President, Risk and Compliance Business Partner for Group Customer, where she provided strategic compliance guidance to senior business leaders and supported the strengthening of conduct and customer outcomes across the group division.
