The enactment in June 2024 of the IIR and domestic minimum top-up tax in the Global Minimum Tax Act confirms the application of the GloBE Model Rules (aka Pillar 2) in Canada.  Building on the session at last year’s CLHIA conference, the panel will review the status of Pillar 2 legislation around the world (with a focus on jurisdictions most relevant to insurers), and discuss the implications of both Canada’s GMTA and foreign Pillar 2 legislation on multinational life insurers operating in Canada.
