Jean-Michel Lavoie has held the position of Vice-President, Strategy & Market Development for Group Retirement Services at Sun Life since August 2022. He is a member of the Group Retirement Services management committee and Sun Life’s Quebec Leadership Team. Jean-Michel is responsible for developing and implementing business strategies across Group Retirement Services nationwide. He plays a major role in ensuring that savings and retirement services are aligned with all of Sun Life Canada’s service offerings. With his teams, he is responsible for leading Group Retirement Services through their digital transformation and overseeing business line strategies, products and partnerships, investment solutions, and marketing and communications with plan sponsors. Jean-Michel is a versatile leader with a wealth of industry experience spanning numerous sectors. Since joining Sun Life in 2013, he has held several senior roles in Group Benefits and Group Retirement Services. Known for his innovation, Jean-Michel has a track record of achievement that has helped develop Sun Life’s service offer and position it as an industry leader. Jean-Michel is active in the community and sits as Chairman of the Board of the McCord Museum Foundation He also sits on the honorary committee for the Lobster Lunch, an event organized by the Fondation Tel-Jeunes since 2018. In 2017, Jean-Michel was named one of LIMRA’s 25 Rising Stars of Innovation, and in 2018, the Journal de l’assurance included him in their list of 25 New Leaders in Insurance for his work and involvement. He holds an MBA in management from McGill University and a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the Université de Montréal.
