Date & Time
Wednesday, June 10, 2026, 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Description

Track: Anti-Fraud

The OPP Identity Crimes Unit (ICU) are leaders in understanding Account Takeovers (ATO), identity theft scams including SIM swaps (an emerging and rapidly evolving threat) and the ways in which businesses are vulnerable to exploitation by organized crime groups using stolen or fabricated identities. Conference attendees may be unaware of these emerging risks, leaving both private and public-sector organizations vulnerable to criminal exploitation.

The presentation will highlight both new and emerging fraud trends alongside more traditional fraud schemes. The overarching goal is to provide attendees with a deeper understanding of how organized crime groups leverage compromised or fraudulently obtained identities to facilitate a wide range of offences, exploit system vulnerabilities and evade established security controls.
