Track: Health
With more than 27 million Canadians covered by private health plans, employer-sponsored insurance plays a vital role in closing gaps left by public immunisation programmes—particularly as new and innovative vaccines continue to come to market. Yet persistent challenges remain, including administrative complexity at the pharmacy counter, uneven vaccine coverage across plan designs, limited employer awareness of the value of prevention-focused benefits, and missed opportunities to fully leverage pharmacists as accessible, trusted providers of vaccination services.
This panel will bring together perspectives from across the private payer ecosystem—including benefit consultants, insurers, and industry stakeholders—to explore how collaboration can improve vaccine access, simplify the patient journey, and strengthen vaccine confidence among Canadians.
The discussion will examine how advisors are making a stronger business case for vaccine coverage with plan sponsors; how insurers are embedding prevention, including vaccination, as a more standard and sustainable feature of plan design; and how pharmacists are valuable contributors to enhancing health outcomes by delivering vaccines efficiently at the point of care. Panelists will also explore opportunities to reduce administrative burden, establish more consistent coverage approaches, and ensure private plans are well positioned to support innovation in prevention.
Attendees will gain practical insights into how collaboration across advisors, insurers, pharmacists and industry partners is advancing disease prevention, improving plan member experience, and reinforcing the value of Canada’s dual public–private health system.
