Track: General
This insightful session delves into the complexities of treatment-resistant depression (TRD) or difficult to treat depression. This presentation will explore underlying causes, contributing factors and the normalization of suboptimal recovery that impacts disability durations and economic outcomes.
Understanding treatment-resistant depression and Measurement based care (MBC) breaks these patterns by systematically tracking symptom change and functioning, allowing the important identification of treatment resistance (TRD) early rather than after months of ineffective care. Once resistance is detected, plans can support evidence based second line interventions—including neuromodulation (rTMS, dTMS), ketamine based therapies, and other interventional psychiatric approaches—that offer faster, more durable improvement for individuals who do not respond to first line treatments. An overview of these second-line interventions will be provided including recent clinical studies on efficacy. By integrating MBC into benefit design and care pathways, insurers can reduce chronicity, shorten disability duration, and improve both clinical and economic outcomes. Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your understanding and contribute to better mental health care.
