This presentation will outline who Canadian Certified Pedorthists are, their national regulatory framework, and their scope of practice in determining medical need for custom foot orthoses. It will propose that insurers accept Pedorthists’ clinical impressions in lieu of physician prescriptions, aligning with existing insurer practices for comparable regulated professions. The presentation will conclude by highlighting the benefits to insurers, plan members, and the healthcare system, including reduced administrative burden, improved patient experience, alignment with emerging legislation, and maintained risk controls.
