Track: Disability
Despite increased focus on interventions, many disability claims are not resolving faster, and in some cases are becoming more complex.
Across common claim categories such as mental health, fatigue, pain, and cognitive symptoms, female claimants are often overrepresented in longer-duration claims. Yet underlying women’s health drivers are frequently not identified early in the claim process.
As a result, claims are often managed at the symptom level rather than at the root cause, contributing to misdiagnosis, layered conditions, and delayed recovery.
This session explores what may be missing in current disability approaches, the challenges of intervening once a claim is underway, and why timing is critical. It will also examine how earlier identification at claim intake, combined with access to the right clinical expertise, can support more effective recovery and improved claim outcomes.
